New York City is mostly known as the city that never sleeps. That’s because there are so many different things going on in the city at any given time that you could run yourself ragged trying to do them all! New York City is also known as one of the most expensive cities in not only the United States, but also the world, so doing all those exciting activities, unfortunately can really add up.
But, there are actually plenty of things to do in New York City that won’t cost you a dime. Perfect, right? Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.
The Daily Show: Many of the amazing television shows filmed in New York are actually free to attend, but you want to be sure you are plan well in advance. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is a favorite, and free tickets can be reserved online.
Federal Hall: For you history buffs, what better place to learn about some American history than the very spot that our first president, George Washington, was sworn into office? Federal Hall offers free tours daily, including those with a park ranger.
Free Tours by Foot: If you are up to strap on your most comfortable shoes and spend some time exploring various neighborhoods of New York, the Free Tours by Foot are for you. Guided by local experts, the tours operate on a name your own price system.
Bryant Park: Smack in Midtown, Bryant Park has a prime spot near the New York Public Library and Times Square. What you might not realize is just how many free offerings happen in Bryant Park, from free movie nights to bird watching classes, it’s all available at no cost.
Downtown Boathouse: Want to get a different view of New York City, maybe one from the water? How about heading over to the Downtown Boathouse where volunteers will let you use kayaks to paddle around completely free.
Do you have any other free things you love to do when in New York City? Think that I missed something? Let us know in the comments!
