While it’s been years since some of us have been in elementary school, we can all remember studying the Gettysburg Address. If you were really lucky, you may have been able to get the details right from the source through grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and and friends. American History is rich and full of memories that many of us have only read about. Movies help give us an idea of what happened way back when but how cool would it be if we could actually SEE the past? Time machines have yet to be invented so we can only go by the pictures that we’ve seen in our textbooks.
Okay, history buffs…this is one event that you’ll want to take part in! Whatever city you’re in chances are you will come across a celebration in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Yes, we know…it seems like it was just yesterday, right? We’ve studied it in our American History classes, reenacted it in plays and have seen movies about this historical moment. Cities throughout the United States will have ceremonies in honor of this anniversary. Of course no city will top what Gettysburg, Pennsylvania has in store. If you can, try to make to the area between July 4-7 where you can witness history come to life through an amazing reenactment. Thousands of men and women will gather just outside of Gettysburg to take part in the reenactment. This family-friendly event will have activities and sights for everyone. Witness this historical moment. For more information about the 150th Gettysburg Anniversary National Civil War Battle Reenactment, visit GettysburgReeactment.com.
