Cheeseburgers, french fries, chicken nuggets…oh my! It’s so easy to indulge in delicious fast food while you’re traveling long distance by car. There’s no secret here, friends – I am just like you. There’s a certain thrill I get about driving through a Burger King drive-thru and pulling up to the take-out window to receive a paper bag full of deliciousness. A Whopper, french fries and a strawberry milkshake to satisfy my guilty pleasure of fast food. It’s only okay when you’re going on a road trip though, right? The scale fails to agree by rising in numbers each time I step on it after a trip. Since I travel on the road often, I decided it was time to put the brakes on the fatty fast food and try something different – healthy fast food! Did you laugh a little bit? I did too, until I did some research and found that even the worst fast food restaurants have some yummy, low-calorie eats hidden deep in their menu (the section many don’t bother to look for.) Take a look at the best fast food options on the road:
Chick Fil A: Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap – 330 Calories
Dunkin’ Donuts: Egg White Veggie Wake-Up Wrap – 150 calories
Subway: 6″ Subway Club on 9-Grain Wheat Bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, and Sweet Onion Sauce and apple slices on the side – 445 calories
Burger King: Veggie Burger plus apple slices – 440 calories
Starbucks: Chicken & Hummus Bistro Box and a banana – 380 calories
