Are you ready for an adventure? Bike riding is one sport that is well suited for beginners and experts alike. Regardless of your level of expertise, a bike ride through a national park offers both a great workout and a plethora of panoramic views. Hop on your bikes and meet us at one of the following Best National Parks for Biking!
Crater Lake National Park – Oregon
The 33-mile journey to the top of Crater Lake can be best described as both breathtaking and demanding. Due to the changes in elevation (you’re already above sea level), you’ll have to pound the pedals a little harder on this one. However, the ride along Rim Drive is well worth the extra effort.
Shenandoah National Park – Virginia
Just 75 miles from the bustle of Washington, D.C., Shenandoah National Park is a biker’s dream. Lined with cascading waterfalls and spectacular vistas, the 105-mile long road winds its way along the mountain tops of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It even includes a portion of the famous Appalachian Trail.
Arches National Park – Utah
Moab is surrounded by mountain biking trails of every difficulty level, from dirt roads to technical singletrack. A paved bike path connects the gateway community of Moab with the entrance to Arches, and continues along Highway 191 to offer riders awe-inspiring views. The end of the trail leads bikers to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Point.
Redwood National Park – California
Ready to ride among some of the largest remaining virgin redwoods in the world? The Avenue of the Giants provides bikers the chance to traverse a 31.6-mile ride through a magical tunnel of these majestic trees. But did you know that there is so much more to Redwood National Park than trunks, branches and leaves? Lush terrain, including open fields and rugged coastline, awaits you.
Acadia National Park – Maine
Forty-five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and valleys of Acadia National Park. Winding through the heart of the park, the carriage roads have crushed rock surfaces that are perfect for bicycling. The park is home to many plants and animals as well, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Enjoy!
