Is October even October without pumpkin patches, pumpkin picking, roasted seeds, pureed soups, and delicious pies?
Here is a list of some of the best places to check out in the Northeast. There’s still time to squeeze in a visit.
Bishop’s Orchards (Guilford, Connecticut)
This family-owned farm has been in operation since 1871! Throughout the year you will find the freshest produce and pastries as well as an extensive cheese selection from all around the world. In October, guests enjoy hot cider, seasonal donuts, and homemade fudge.
The pumpkin patch is open until October 31. It’s free to enter and open daily from 10 am-6 pm on weekdays and 9 am-6 pm on weekends. Pick your own pumpkins and more including raspberries, and apples.
Fifer Orchards (Camden Wyoming, Delaware)
Fifer’s is also a family-operated farm currently run by the 3rd and 4th generations.
How do you like the sound of fresh apple butter, apple-cider donuts, and local honey? You can find that and more at Fifer’s. Due to Covid-19 some activities are socially distanced this year and require reservations including their corn maze (available until Nov. 7) and apple picking (available until Oct. 31). However, the pumpkin patch is open for walk-ins Monday-Saturday until the end of the month.
Pumpkin Valley Farm ( Dayton, Maine)
Pumpkin Valley calls themselves the “Farmyard of fun” and you will know why when you’re there and surrounded by kettle corn, cotton candy, farm animals, ball launchers, and more. Not only is there a pumpkin patch to wander through, but you will also find a 6-acre corn maze.
Clearview Farm (Sterling, Massachusetts)
Clearview has been farming for over 200 years and they’re proud of it. Plan a visit to this 85-acre farm filled with fruits, veggies, flowers, herbs, wonderful sunsets, and an incredible view of Mt. Wachusett. During fall time at the farm, you can expect family photo ops, pumpkin picking, apple cider pressing demonstrations, hayrides, and even pizza.
Heaven Hill Farm & Garden Center (Vernon Township, New Jersey)
Heaven Hill wants you to know that family fun hasn’t been canceled in 2020. It’s just a little more socially distant. For this reason, they are not accepting walk-ins for their Fall Harvest fun. You can purchase tickets to their events in advance through their website. There you will find tractor-trailer hayrides, a corn maze, farm animals, obstacle courses, shows, and yes, plenty of pumpkins too.
The Great Pumpkin Farm (Clarence, New York)
What would a “Great Pumpkin Farm” be without an assortment of pumpkin donuts, pies, and cakes plus a Halloween store for all the Halloween collectors and decorators in your lives?
Salisbury Farm (Johnston, Rhode Island)
Stop by Salisbury Farm to get a tour of their 55-acre family farm and pick up fresh eggs, honey and jellies.
During the fall time, you can pick your own strawberries, raspberries, and pumpkins and wander through their huge corn maze. Hayrides are available on the weekends.
Winslow Farms (Pittsford, Vermont)
Winslow Farms has been operating in Vermont since 1991. If you still need a pumpkin, they are open until Oct 31!
Walkthrough their 5-acre pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins and gourds or find some already picked out and ready for you inside of their old 1840’s Barnhouse. Whatever you do, don’t leave before trying their freshly made maple syrup or crisp apple juice.
