People around the world have begun making wishes when the clock strikes 11:11. The ultimate time for wishing is said to be at 11:11 on November 11, so in honor of this time, we’d like to share some of the best places for wishing.
Fountains & Wishing Wells
The Trevi Fountain, a magnificent baroque fountain located in Rome, Italy, is called the world’s most famous wishing well. Thousands of visitors each day make a wish as they toss their coin into the fountain. In the U.S. there are a few popular spots to make a wish in this way. We love Snow White’s wishing well at Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park in Orlando. Another great spot for road trippers and explorers is Luray Caverns wishing well in Virginia. For a truly historical wishing well, visit Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine.
Statues
Throughout the U.S. and worldwide, travelers have been rubbing bronze statues for good luck. From the Charging Bull on Wall Street in NYC to the adorable Rachel the Pig at Pike’s Place Market in Seattle to the elegant Winged Figures of the Republic at the Hoover Dam, these statues are a great place to make a travel wish!
Rocks
The most famous lucky rock is by far the Blarney Stone in Ireland, but you don’t have to travel that far to make a wish on a rock. We recommend heading to the American Southwest for three incredible formations worthy of wish-makers. Although they aren’t popularly considered wishing places, we’re confident these formations will help your wishes come true. One of the most impressive wishing “rocks” is of course, is the magnificent Grand Canyon. The perfect wishing place for hikers is Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. Imagine standing under the most recognizable natural arch in the world and making your wish. Now that’s powerful! If you’re spiritual, the vortexes (no, it’s not “vortices”) of Sedona are the perfect location for meditating on your wish. 
Locks
You may have heard of the famous and controversial lovers locks bridge in Paris, the Pont de l’Archeveche. Romantics say that placing a lock on the bridge symbolizes your love lasting for eternity. Tourists can enjoy a similar experience at Las Vegas’s Eiffel Tower Experience, where a bridge leading to the observation deck now holds lovers locks. 
Walls
Another famous wishing place for lovers is Juliet’s Wall in Verona, where visitors from around the world tuck their love letters. Closer to home, each December, the New York Times erects the Times Square Wishing Wall, where you can post your hopes and dreams for the coming year. Now, you don’t even have to travel to NYC to post your wish, you can use the virtual Wishing Wall to have your wish added to the confetti that’s released on Times Square when the ball drops. For an odd-ball wishing wall, the Gum Wall in Seattle is perfect. Simply chew some gum in your favorite flavor, stick it to the wall, and make a wish! 
Towers
There are many famous towers around the world with observation decks that are ideal places for making a wish, but our favorite to recommend is the Empire State Building. Head up to the top, overlook the island of Manhattan and make a wish at this iconic building.
