Silverton
Silverton is a former mining town that now features a huge historic district. Visitors can wander the streets of downtown which have maintained that Western feel from the late 1800s. Or you can take a stagecoach ride through town, visit the historic railway, and learn about the area touring city hall.
Trinidad
Trinidad, Colorado was once part of the Santa Fe Trail so it has tons of history which you can learn at the Trinidad History Museum. And, this is one town that art loves will never want to leave. Artists from all over the world are attracted to this area to paint, draw, and sculpt. You can see their works at one of the local museums including the A.R. Mitchell Museum.
Crested Butte
Who wouldn’t love to spend time in a place known as “The Wildflower Capital of America?” And while you’re enjoying the flowers, don’t forget to take in the fantastic mountain views. You can mountain bike here all summer or take in one of the many festivals. And when the winter comes ski, snowmobile, and snowshoe throughout the area.
Palisade
Wine tasting is always a popular activity for people to enjoy. But most don’t consider Colorado a place that’s known for its wine. Well, think again. The charming Colorado town of Palisade is home to over two dozen wineries. Wander (or bike) the wine trail to visit these vineyards and enjoy tours and tastings.
Aspen
No matter the time of year, Aspen has something cool going on. All winter long, it’s home to some of the best skiing in America as people come here from all over the world. In the winter, the trees turn, and hikers and bikers love exploring the White River National Forest. During summer, there are a ton of festivals and farmers markets.
Georgetown
Imagine finding a quaint Victorian village smack in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Well, welcome to Georgetown. This former mining village has worked hard to preserve its Victorian-era buildings and feel for the past 100 years. Explore the historic downtown, Hamil House Museum, or ride the local steam locomotive.
