Last week I had the opportunity to test drive (er…ride) some GM vehicles at an event with Chevy and ohmigoodness, how I’ve got new car fever. Immediately after the event, I ran home and told my husband that we basically had to get a new car. Like stat. After laughing at me and telling me to collect some bills from the money tree  in the backyard, he wanted to get some more information on the cars that I got a chance to look it.

No one loves bloggers more than GM in the Southeast and I’ve not only attended but have hosted a party of theirs once or twice. Each time, I get the chance to test drive some of their cars. They’ve all been impressive but the Chevy Malibu and Chevy Equinox both left me speechless.

First let’s talk about the awesomeness that is the Chevy Malibu…

I’ve only owned mid-sized sedans like the Chevy Malibu so this is definitely my preferred sedan in all of the Chevy fleet. I am absolutely in love with the new 2013 body re-design and the specs on the inside are just as impressive. Like all GM vehicles, the Malibu totes the life-saving OnStar system and alongside that are plenty of other bells and whistles. Space-wise, I found the sedan to be pretty stellar. 5 people could sit comfortably without much fuss and the trunk had enough space for several pieces of luggage. In fact, if I were to purchase a Chevy sedan tomorrow it would definitely be the Malibu.

On the other hand, if I wanted a little more space in a crossover that didn’t LOOK like a crossover, I’d get the Equinox.

I’ve never owned a truck. I’ve driven them with no problem but as a single woman, I could never justify the need of owning anything larger than a sedan. However, with a growing family on the way, a bigger car just seems practical and the Equinox is big enough to where it won’t intimidate me or annoy my husband with how it does on gas. Also chockfull of bells and whistles, the Equinox combines space, class and efficiently beautifully. And it drives smoothly too! While riding shotgun in the Equinox, it felt as if we were riding on a cloud. That is certainly not my experience with my current vehicle!

If you’re in the market for car, I’d definitely take a look at the Malibu and Equinox. Both are practical, affordable and just a pleasure to drive. I’d take both on a road trip in a heartbeat.

Any Chevy lovers in the house?
