Colorado River
One of the best white water rafting trips out there is on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. There’s a reason why this trip is so popular, because it’s unlike any other white water rafting experience you can get!
There are over 200 miles of river to navigate through, with rapids ranging from the barely noticeable Class I to the heart racing Class V. Fully guided tours can last anywhere from a few days to two weeks for the truly adventurous.
Kennebec River
White water rafting and Maine might not be the first to come to mind, but once you leave the rugged coastline of Maine, there is plenty of amazing nature and wildlife to explore. The Kennebec offers both to the white water rafter.
The Kennebec River itself is a solid Class IV river, and during certain times of the summer, rafters can also explore an offshoot on the Dead River, which offers more of a range going from Class II to IV. These tours can last anywhere from a half day to a weekend event.
Chattooga River
Winding along the South Carolina and Georgia borders is the Chattooga River which features four sections that range from Class III to Class V. Many rafters consider this river to flow through one of the most beautiful sections of the country.
Not far from the outdoors wonderland that is Asheville, North Carolina, the backwoods that surround the Chattooga River provide ample rafting opportunities. Plus, the mild weather means rafting opportunities range from Spring to Fall.
