There is a small but growing group of people who travel the country with one very special thing in mind that they want to experience. No, it’s not theme parks, or National Parks, or music festivals, it’s food.

Foodies, as they have dubbed themselves, are people who have a refined and sophisticated love of food. They travel not only the country, but the world, looking for incredible dining experiences that will last with them for a lifetime.

Baltimore is one place that has been growing in esteem among foodies the last few years and with good reason. The city has a young vibrant core combined with great classic dishes that is the perfect recipe for any aspiring foodie to enjoy.

Let’s take a look.

Attman’s Deli

There are only a handful of deli’s across America that foodies love to visit, and the family owned Baltimore mainstay, Attman’s is one of them. Having been around for over 100 years, the main staple that everyone loves on the menu, the corned beef sandwich, is a must try.

Bottega

If you love tiny gems to eat in, then Bottega is the spot for you. With just over a dozen seats, your best bet is to schedule a reservation ahead of time. But, you won’t be disappointed in the food, since it features an ever changing menu of only fresh and seasonal northern Italian fare.

Berger Cookies

An absolute Baltimore tradition, Berger Cookies have been creating an unremarkable looking, yet incredibly delicious cookie by hand for generations and it has become a food icon in this growing foodie city. You can’t take a trip to Baltimore without getting your hands on at least one.

People love brunch, and for good reason, it’s the best of all food worlds (and who doesn’t love a cocktail thrown in for breakfast?). And for brunch in Baltimore, the Blue Moon Cafe consistently gets high marks and long lines. The local favorite: Cap’n Crunch French toast.

Faidley’s Seafood

You can’t take a trip to Maryland without having at least one meal with it’s famous crab as the star of the dish. Most locals love heading to Lexington Market and feasting on the famed jumbo lump crab cake at Faidley’s Seafood. It’s standing room only, but you don’t need a seat to enjoy.

Woodberry Kitchen

One of the hottest trends in food the last few years has been the farm to table movement for true local eats, and in Baltimore, Woodberry Kitchen has been on the forefront of that movement. As one of the hottest spots in town with an ever changing menu, it’s easy to see why it’s an award winning spot.

La Cuchara

This popular Baltimore hot spot is all about the food of Spain, specifically the Basque region that borders France. La Cuchara’s main specialties include pinxos, which are bite sized little snacks, prepared over a wood fire grill. The menu changes frequent to keep up with seasonal flavors.

Those are just seven of our favorite Baltimore restaurants that we think any real (or aspiring) foodie should try next time they are in Charm City. Let us know what you think too, did we miss any of your favorites?
