Road-tripping up I-95? You won’t want to miss these fun stops in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
Pennsylvania
Philadelphia
You can’t pass through PA without a stop in the city of brotherly love. Pose for a photo in front of the historic Liberty Bell, browse masterpieces at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and make sure to grab a cheesesteak at Geno’s or Pat’s before you go (because you have to pick a side in the famous rivalry).
New Jersey
Thompson Park
This 675-acre park is fun for the whole family. It’s the perfect place to run, walk, canoe, kayak, or play with your dog. Plus, it houses a petting zoo with a variety of animals including goats, pigs, emus, deer, and turkeys.
Rutgers Gardens
The botanic garden of Rutgers University is a sight to see. Wander through the bamboo forest, the rhododendron and azalea garden, the holly collection, and more.
Menlo Park Mall
Shop ’til you drop at the Menlo Park Mall, an upscale retail mecca that houses Nordstrom, Michael Kors, H&M, Zara, and other popular stores. Sit down for a meal at Seasons 52, Cheesecake Factory, Benihana, or Rainforest Cafe.
Bowcraft Amusement Park
Bring the kids to this amusement park–just a short drive from the highway, in Scotch Plains–which has roller coasters, bumper cars, and more. The whole family will love classic rides like the tilt-a-whirl, super slide, and barnstormer.
Meadowlands Sports Complex
Home to MetLife stadium–where both the New York Giants and Jets play–the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford also hosts concerts and horse racing. Next year, the American Dream Meadowlands, a mall and entertainment complex, is set to open as well.
New York
Bronx Park
Flora and fauna come together in Bronx Park, home to both the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. The zoo is the largest in the United States, with exhibits dedicated to animals of the African plains, the jungle, a baboon reserve, aquatic birdhouse, and more. The botanical garden houses an arboretum, forest, herb and perennial gardens, among many other specialty gardens. As part of the bigger park, thrill-seekers can try the Treetop Adventure, a new aerial adventure park with zip lines galore.
Manor Park and Beach
Located in the town of Larchmont, this beautiful tree-lined waterfront area overlooks Long Island Sound and features a walking path that’s perfect for a relaxing stroll with wonderful views.
