My escape to Key West was an experience that I will remember forever for it’s unique charm and ability to feel like I “got away from it all” even though I was only a few hours from my hometown.
If you’ve never been to Key West, I suggest you continue reading this article because there’s no better place to hop in your car and escape other than this beautiful island. Key West is located 94 miles north of Cuba and is known best for it’s tropical ambiance with endless palm trees, crystal clear oceans and historical charm. If you’re not gliding down the beach on a beach cruiser, you better be traveling by foot down Duval St., where you will find miles of authentic restaurants, bars and shops. Around 5:00 p.m., you’ll want to head over to Mallory Square and take part in the famous Sunset Celebration. Local vendors set-up shop, conduct performances, sell crafts and entertain while you witness one of the most amazing sunsets you’ll ever see. No trip to Key West is complete without experiencing Margaritaville. This place is the definition of paradise where you can grab a cheeseburger, an icy cold ‘rita and dance the night away to a live band.
Key West is the perfect place to go if you have a car and a few days off of work. Whether it be summer or winter, there’s no better place to escape by car except the famous Florida Keys.
