It’s that time of year when lattes, pies, bread, and Halloween decorations are all about that pumpkin. Get into the spirit with a visit to one of these spots that celebrate this carvable crop.
The Great Pumpkin Farm (Clarence, NY)
Located outside of Buffalo, this patch lives up to its name and then some. In addition to a huge pumpkin spread, you can navigate your way through a corn or hay bale maze, say hello to the animals at the petting zoo, watch a magic show, or even just enjoy some cider and donuts. This year they are celebrating their 26th annual event!
Cool Patch Pumpkins (Dixon, CA)
You may believe that all pumpkins are created equal, but you’ll think twice when you get a look at the massive selection at this Northern California farm. Visitors can also navigate through a corn maze, or check out the spooky entries for the patch’s annual scarecrow contest.
PEANUTS Pumpkin Patch Express (Bryson City, NC)
Fans of the classic cartoon can join Charlie Brown and the gang with this unforgettable ride along the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Travelers will hear the story of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” en route to the patch, where they’ll enjoy photo-ops with their favorite characters and the chance to pick their very own great pumpkin.
Frey Farms (Keenes, IL)
Now that’s a lot of pumpkins. Acres and acres of ‘em are planted every year, making it nearly impossible to leave without a jack o’lantern, or pie pumpkin, or just about any other kind that you’re looking for. They even have mini and white varieties! Frey isn’t just one of the biggest patches in the country; it’s grown to compete with some of the world’s largest ones as well.
Craven Farm (Snohomish, WA)
This Washington State staple has been open for more than three decades. While the 20-acre pumpkin patch is the main attraction, Craven Farm delights parents and children alike with a combination of classic activities like hayrides, and innovative amusements like an Alice-in-Pumpkinland Corn Maze and a late-night corn maze.
