While the collective of artists that created Meow Wolf has other installations in Las Vegas and Denver, Santa Fe is its home base and the site of the first permanent museum, House of Eternal Return.
Art for Everyone
Including work from more than 100 different artists, this incredibly unique and family-friendly space spans 20,000 feet. Plus, it has a bit of something for everything, including a jungle gym, an art gallery, treehouses, caves, and much more. Making it even more offbeat is the fact that it’s housed in a former bowling alley. But sorry, you won’t find any lanes or pins here anymore.
Some History
True to its name, the entire installation is set in a victorian house. And the experience is completely self-guided, letting you make your way through and draw your own conclusions about what may or may not have happened here. All you’ll get is the back story: former residents The Selig family disappeared after an experiment went wrong, and it’s up to you to figure out how. There are secret passageways and light and musical elements that bring everything to life. Now, you can enjoy narration about specific pieces with an audio tour, available on the museum’s app.

It’s not just art, either. The House of Eternal Return also features a non-profit center, Chimera, that holds art classes for children, and a music venue that hosts everything from dance parties to rock concerts.
Admission/Hours
Meow Wolf is open Sunday–Thursday from 10 am–8 pm, Friday–Saturday 10 am–10 pm, and closed on Tuesday. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for children, and $25 for seniors and military members. You’ll have as much time as you want to explore the house. So, feel free to set aside a few hours to really take in the experience.
