There’s no better time to set your travel goals for 2020 than in January, when your inspiration and motivation are probably at their peak for the year. And if you have yet to cross some dream destinations off your list, here are some ideas to get your wheels turning.
New York City, New York
If you haven’t taken a bite out of the Big Apple yet, make this the time to do it. You’ll want to check out the obvious sites, of course: the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But don’t miss out on the bohemian charm of the West Village, the climbable new Vessel structure in Chelsea, or the beautiful views from the High Line, a train line-turned-public park.
The Grand Canyon, Arizona
In the United States, the Grand Canyon is perhaps the most iconic destination when it comes to bucket list travel. From its incredible colors to its unique geological formations, photos simply don’t do it justice. Make sure to plan ahead in terms of the area you want to visit: while other sections of the canyon are closed in the winter, the South Rim is open all year round.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Sure, Sin City may be known as a party animal paradise, but if you’re not in the mood to get wild or bet it all on black, there’s still plenty to keep you occupied and entertained. From musicals to magic shows and even museums that specialize in everything from haunted objects to neon signs, you’re sure to have a memorable time.
New Orleans, Louisiana
No matter what time of year you take a vacation in The Big Easy, you can trust that the city will be hoppin’. Stop by Cafe du Monde for their world-famous beignets and chicory coffee, stroll down Bourbon Street, and have a drink at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, which is reputed to be the oldest bar in the country.
Disney World, Florida
Looking for a fun, warm, family-friendly trip? Disney is a perfect choice. Of course, the kids will love the rides, characters, and attractions at the Magic Kingdom, but you might have just as much fun with the cuisine and drinks from around the world at Epcot. It’s a win-win.
