There are lots of people in both America and around the world who have been to Disney World as kids. But people actually forget that Disney World can also be a great destination for adults too.

Disney without kids? You bet.

In fact, there is a whole new world (get it?) of things to enjoy all over Disney World as an adult.

In this post, we’re going to cover why Disney World is a hot spot for adults and all the fun things you can do on your next trip there.

Let’s go!

Tips and Tricks

When you start planning your Disney World trip there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

First, if you’re going to be staying for a few days, it’s a very good idea to buy a multi-day pass. Second, make sure you plan. There are lots of parts of Disney World to see, so if you plan to see one park a day you’ll get everything you want without jumping around.

You can actually still buy Magic Passes even if you are staying off-site and you can link your Fast Pass+ to your ticket up to 30 days before arrival.

Finally, when you’re child-free, you’ll have a bit more flexibility over your hours by not needing to plan about nap times (or temper tantrums caused by lack thereof). Be sure to check the park hours to get the most out of your ticket. Don’t miss new nighttime shows like the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Parks and Destinations

Now that you’ve got the details down, let’s get to the fun part! Of course, you can partake in any ride you want, so here we’re going to focus on some of the other things you might be interested checking out.

Epcot

Most adult visitors love heading to Epcot. This part of the park is best known for the Around the World Showcase. So, not only is it really cool to check out how amazingly well Disney has been able to bring other cultures to Orlando, but you’re also allowed to indulge in some adult beverages in each country.

Rides

While the parks certainly have rides catering to the youngsters, there are plenty of thrill rides and fun experiences to check out. Here are a few of our must-rides (don’t forget to work out your fast passes ahead of time):

Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor.

Epcot: Fast Track, Mission: Space, and Soarin’. If you need a 45-minute nap from drinking around the World Showcase, visit Ellen’s Universe of Energy.

Hollywood Studios: Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours, and Muppet Vision 3D.

Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids (yes, you will get wet), and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Disney Boardwalk and Disney Springs

Another place to make sure you’ll have a great night out is to head to the Disney Boardwalk area. Feel like a kid again playing in the arcade, or enjoy Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar. For upscale cocktails in a whimsical setting, be sure to try a drink at AbracadaBar. For even more entertainment including shows from Cirque de Soleil and lots of dining, check out Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney).

Sports and Activities

Did you know that Disney is home to a number of luxury golf courses? If you want to get in a round, check out the Magnolia, Lake Buena Vista Palm or Oak Trail courses. If you’d love to improve your game and take some lessons, Disney has you covered. The park also offers horseback riding and waterskiing too.

If you’re looking for a relaxing break from the parks, you can enjoy a world-class spa experience at many of the resorts. One favorite is Senses at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. For a romantic addition to your trip, head over to Fort Wilderness Resort or the Port Orleans Riverside Resort for a horse-drawn carriage ride.

Dining

We can’t mention any trip to Disney World without including the dining options, especially for adults. Splurge on a romantic dinner at Victoria and Albert’s at the Grand Floridian, be adventurous with African cuisine at Boma or Jiko at the Animal Kington Lodge, or indulge in a steak dinner at Le Cellier in Epcot.

If you’re in the Magic Kingdom, don’t forget that the only place you can enjoy an adult beverage with your delicious meal is at the Be Our Guest restaurant. If you don’t care about having some red wine with your steak, then Cinderella Castle is also a magical dining experience, no matter how old you are. The options are endless – but be sure to make reservations as soon as possible!
