San Francisco is one of the most popular American cities to visit and it’s pretty easy to see why. With mild weather, excellent food, and tons of activities, it’s a great place to spend a couple of days getting away from it all.
Explore the Neighborhoods
One of the things that makes San Francisco very special as a city is it is home to a number of really diverse and interesting neighborhoods.
Fisherman’s Wharf
One of the more popular tourist spots, there is plenty to see and do here. This neighborhood is home to the waterfront wharf, including the ferry over to Alcatraz, Pier 39 which is home to the aquarium and street performers, and Ghiradelli Square.
Chinatown
If you love to eat, then Chinatown might just be one of your favorite neighborhoods in San Francisco. Home to the largest Chinatown outside of Asia, you will run out of days before you run out of delicious places to eat. Try checking out the Golden Gate Bakery for sweets and Hunan Homes for dinner.
Union Square
For shoppers, art lovers and theater goers, this is the heart of the city. It might be hard to decide between some of the best to choose from in one of the biggest shopping areas in the country, featuring the major high-end chains as well as local favorites Gump’s and Britex.
Take in a Giants Game
The San Francisco Giants have consistently been one of the best teams in baseball over the last decade winning multiple World Series during that time. The fun thing about the Giants is they are one of the view teams that offers you a couple of different ways to check out the game.
The first, of course, is the conventional method inside the stadium. But, if you want to enjoy some of that beautiful summer or fall weather in San Francisco, then it has to be in a kayak in McCovey Cove, on the river right outside the park. If you’re lucky you’ll see a win, and catch a home run.
Check out a Factory Tour
Since San Francisco has a rich history, there are a lot of great old companies that offer factory tours to visitors looking for a unique experience.
One fun tour is with the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. Here you can watch the cookie makers at work while the pop out hundreds of fortune cookies. Plus it’s not a bad idea to grab a few samples to snack on for yourself.
Another good tour is with the team over at Anchor Brewing. They offer two guided tours a day that come with samples of their beer. The brewery is one of the oldest in San Francisco and is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Once you arrive in San Francisco you have plenty of public transportation options in the area. The Muni is the most commonly used form of transport around the city, operating buses, light rails and those famous historic cable cars.
