Ft. Lauderdale, Florida has it all. There is year-round sunshine, beaches, art, culture, events, cafe con leche. It’s a great place to visit anytime.

Inside of this post are some of the top things to see and do in the area.

Wake up (or wind down) with yoga at Funk & Flow

Traveling can put a lot of stress on the mind and body. Do yourself a favor and drop into Funk&Flow for some much-needed stretching and recharging of your vibes. Visitors needn’t be shy. You are welcomed and encouraged to jump right into the family in this feel-good movement space, where you can find everything from yoga and guided meditation to soothing live vocals and energetic hip hop classes. Don’t miss out.

Get a Pub-Sub

Before you go to the beach, grab a cooler and head to the nearest Publix to stock up on drinks, snacks, and of course, some subs. Pub-subs, that is. Florida is known for many things, and a Publix sub is at the top, right next to sunshine and alligators.

It’s hard to say which flavor is the best. Try a classic turkey, meatball, or Italian. The Chicken Tenders sub is another favorite; freshly made hand-breaded chicken tenders, topped with cheese, and crisp vegetables on your choice of white, wheat or multi-grain bread.

Have fun in the sun at Ft. Lauderdale Beach

There are eight different beaches in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area to explore: Deerfield, Hillsboro, Pompano, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Fort Lauderdale, Dania, Hollywood, and Hallandale.

Though each of them has different positive qualities to offer, every single one of them has the billowing palm trees, white powdery sand, and warm water you’re after. Soak up the sun, walk or jog alongside the shore, observe turtle nesting areas, wander down the boardwalks, fish from the piers, and have a great time.

Stroll around Las Olas

Las Olas Boulevard is a famous two and a half-mile stretch lined with galleries, bars, restaurants, bakeries, shops, boutiques, consignment stores, museums, and more.

Also on Las Olas is Riverwalk Park; a linear park alongside the water, where you can stroll and watch boats go by. If you follow it around, it will lead you to the Museum of Discovery and Science and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, two more popular stops in the area.

Share a “Kitchen Sink” at Jaxson’s

After the beach, take your group on over to Jaxson’s. It remains the best ice cream joint in the neighborhood for over 60 years now.

The kitchen sink, their signature creation, is available for parties of four or more. It’s a kitchen sink sized bowl filled to the brim with housemade ice cream and all the fixings- gooey hot fudge, colorful sprinkles, fresh whipped cream and cocktail cherries. Sometimes there is a bit of a line outside but, stay put, it’s worth it.

Try your luck at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, with over 100 tables and 2,000 slot machines available to play. Then take your earnings and spend it inside of the many restaurants, nightclubs, pools, and spas on the property.

It’s much anticipated guitar-shaped hotel will be open in the fall of 2019, expanding the complex by 30%. It will add over 600 rooms, 3,000 slots, 200 table games, 46 poker tables, as well as new restaurants, lounges, bars, and a lagoon pool.  Woah!

Sip on a Cafe Con Leche

What is a Cafe Con Leche? Probably the most heavenly Spanish beverage ever created, made from equal parts of strong coffee and scalded milk.

If that intrigues you, stop by these restaurants to discover the magic: 925 Nuevo’s Cubano’s, Colada Cuban CafePadrino’s Cuban CuisineJuana La Cabana Cafe, and El Tamarindo Cafe

Pro tip: Order tostada (toast with butter) and dunk it in your mug. Swirl it all around. Bite. Smile. Repeat.
