Manchester, New Hampshire is mostly known for its history with the mills and formerly being textile capital of the world.

Getting There
Manchester is located in south-central New Hampshire, about 20 minutes south of the state’s capital, Concord. It’s one hour from Boston and 5 hours away from New York City. (Only one hour by plane, if you fly into the Manchester International Airport!)

Museums
Discover a comprehensive and interesting collection of history at the Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum, where you will learn about the roots of the area surrounding this fabric mill. But you will also learn about the cloth-making process from shearing a sheep to cleansing the material to counting threads.
If you want to keep learning, head to the Currier Museum of Art. You will find various works from many local artists. Works displayed are from centuries past to contemporary time. Marvel at names like Picasso, Matisse, O’Keeffe, and Monet. If you’re a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, you’re in luck. The museum recently acquired a Frank Lloyd Wright home: The Zimmerman House. However, it requires a separate admission. But you will get transportation to the Zimmerman House property, as well as a docent lead tour.
Outdoors
Inhale the fresh air, and take a walk around the pond at Livingston Park, or do a little sailing, fishing or kayaking over at Massabesic Lake.
Entertainment
Slow down and catch a play at the Palace Theatre, “where the arts come alive.” For a different kind of show, you can book tickets to a ball game at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Eat
Hungry? Exploring does that. Stop inside The Foundry Restaurant for an order of chicken wings. Or, try their famous cheese board which includes a variety of cheeses from the region. For more farm-to-table selections in the area and plenty of vegetarian options, go to the Mediterranean styled Republic Cafe and Bistro.
