Provo, Utah has been consistently named as one of the happiest towns in all of the United States. Why is that?
Perhaps it has something to do with the streets having more candy shops than bars, or its easy to access to outdoor recreation. Or maybe it’s all of the fresh food, and farmers markets available to them, and the way they get out of their houses to socialize with one another. Or maybe- it’s all of the above.
Aren’t you a teensy bit curious to find out now? Take a day trip or a weekend trip with the help of this quick guide and do things exactly like a Provo, Utahn would do.
Get Outdoors
Provo Canyon is one of the best scenic views in the area, with year-round beauty. It has a little something to offer everyone. Here you will find 13 miles of hiking and biking trails. Plus there’s fishing, boating and floating in the beautiful Provo River.
Bridal Veil Falls State Park is right next door to Provo Canyon, so it’s a short distance to travel. And it has a 600-foot-tall breathtaking waterfall that ice-climbers from around the world like to visit during Winter. Inside the park, there are picnic tables, a paved pathway, and some barbecue grills. It’s a great spot to relax with a packed lunch.
Stroll around the Farmers Market
During the months of June-October, shop for custom made and specialty products, enjoy good company, and try out the local’s favorite food trucks.
There is more to explore than just fresh produce from these Farmers Markets: The Provo Farmer’s Market, and Happy Valley’s Farmers Market.
Satisfy Your Sweettooth
Pop ‘n’ Sweets is exactly what the name says- gourmet soda pop with a variety of flavors ranging from classic cola and rootbeer to black cherry, rosé and peach plus entire walls filled with American and International candy.
Release your inner child (or real child too) at Blickenstaff’s, where they have the best of two worlds: retro American candy and a mountain of toys.
Startup Candy Co. started in the 1830s, so it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about candy. Originally from England, and transferred to Provo, the store has a ton of signature Utah candies. Ask them for Utah sucker.
