Aspen may be known around the world for being a celebrity winter hot spot, but turns out it also has a vibrant ski scene. Even when the celebs aren’t in town for an event, you can still find some of the trendiest and fun après ski scenes around.
One of the best things that sets Aspen apart from some of the other ski areas in the Western part of the United States is that it was first a mining town, not a ski resort. So that gives Aspen a really unique feel, with some of the hottest bars in 100-year-old buildings.
To See and Be Seen
If you want to have a chance at some celeb sighting during your trip to Aspen, then your best bet is going to be to make your way to some of these places after you hit the slopes:
The Terrace Bar – Situated in the Little Nell Hotel, the Terrace Bar exudes a swank sophistication, open until 2 a.m., this is where you can find many A-listers enjoying a cocktail or two.
39 Degrees Lounge – Dubbing itself as ‘Aspens most happening après ski party,’ this lounge in the Sky Hotel makes it pretty easy to see why. With incredible mountain views, outdoor seating and heated pool, it always makes for a hot spot in the winter.
To Relax and Have Fun
If the trendy bars aren’t your scene, not to fear, Aspen has quite a few local watering holes that are still a great time, minus the celebrity feel.
Zane’s Tavern – If you want to follow the local skiers, then Zane’s is the spot where you will most likely find yourself après ski. Famous for its large selection of beers and a Happy Hour (3-6 p.m.) wing deal that brings in the masses.
Jimmy’s – Recently voted one of the best 50 bars in America by Food and Wine Magazine, this bar is known for its selection of Tequilas. With great bartenders and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, it’s an Aspen favorite.
So, next time you are headed off to Aspen, make sure to try some of these bars after a few runs on the mountain. And, be sure to come back and tell us what some of your favorite Aspen après ski spots are in the comments!
