It’s no secret that Nashville is one of the most fun cities to visit in America. Whether you’re a fan of country music or not, Music City is a place for everyone and anyone who appreciates history, who loves music, a cold drink and a great time. There are plenty of things to do around Nashville, but when you’re walking down the famous Broadway Strip, also known as downtown, you’ll easily feel overwhelmed with the amount of honkytonks and attractions to choose from. Take a look at some of our favorite things to do and places to go while taking a stroll down Broadway.
First and foremost, at some point you’re going to need to sleep, so be sure to stop by for a night or two and the beautiful and luxurious Hutton Hotel, located a couple miles down the road on Broadway. The Hutton Hotel will provide a shuttle to and from the Broadway Strip, so you don’t have to worry about driving. While you’re walking down the Strip, make your first stop at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, where you’ll get the best view of the city.
Before you get to the honky-tonk dancing and drinking, you’ll want to spend some time exploring the culture of Nashville. Make a stop at the Johnny Cash Museum where you will walk through country music legend’s life. You’ll learn facts, see memorabilia and go on a journey of his life. After that, check out the famous Country Music Hall of Fame. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s mission is to maintain the evolving history of country music. Here, you’ll find artifacts, publications, exhibits and much more that teaches the background and roots of country music. Now that you’ve learned a lot about country music, it’s time to go play. When it’s finally time to party….
There are endless honky-tonks in Nashville, and live music is blaring on the streets all day, every day. Some, if not most, of the most famous and successful country singers got their start singing at the honky-tonks up and down Broadway. Grab your favorite drink from the bar, take a seat (or stand) and get ready to listen to some of the best music in the city. We recommend spending a few hours in Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, which is also known as the #1 honky-tonk in the world, or The Stage on Broadway, which is spacious with murals of country music legends. Don’t be alarmed if you walk in at 3pm, and lose track of time – you will be there for a while (trust us).
