Here in Orlando, we’re lucky to have an exhibition called Titanic the Experience to walk us through what it might have been like to be an actual passenger on the boat and a tiny taste of what we could have experienced when the ship met its icy grave. Beyond this usual tour, the facility is now offering a special Ghost Tour that takes place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from it all, but I was quite pleased with the outcome.
About halfway through the tour, they actually started to get to the really good stuff; how the artifacts in this facility were haunted. They told stories of paranormal sightings that they had witnessed personally. One in which the cleaning lady got so freaked out, she left the vacuum on, ran out of the building and swore never to return. Her claims were that she saw a man sitting in one of the Titanic deck chairs on display, who turned and tipped his top hat to her, as in saying hello. The manager had to actually deliver her last paycheck to her across the street. They also passed around photo evidence of unexplained orbs, mainly taking place on the infamous stairwell.
The most exciting part of this experience was finding out a fellow patron brought an EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) reader just like I’ve seen on the ghost hunting shows on tv. This gentlemen was actually a part of a local ghost hunting crew, but was at this function solo. I watched in amazement how the green blinking lights shot up to red as he eased it close to an old hairbrush and mirror. Later in the tour, I stood frozen in shock as I watched the open space right next to me be read as a dead green and instantly shoot up to blinking red, as if a ghost had just walked up beside me. Funny thing about this is, the EMF field only went about shoulder high to me, so either this was a short ghost or it was the little girl the tour guides had just told stories about.
All in all, this was a very fun and interesting experience. I would recommend it to anybody and families with not so small children. Nothing jumps out at you (though it would have been awesome to do so under a couple of white sheets) but the stories are a little spooky when backed by evidence.
