I know what you’re thinking…that app sounds familiar. And is it really a travel app? Absolutely! If you aren’t too familiar with Instagram, simply put, it’s a photo-sharing app. It really is that simple. You pull out your smartphone, take a picture, if you feel so inclined add a pretty effect and share it with your friends. Instagram also enables you to email photos or share them on other social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. How does this fit into travel, you ask?
Instagram can act like your own little photo passport in that every picture you take can sit in your profile and display your adventures. Your friends no longer have to wait for you to get home before they start bugging you to share pictures from your vacations. If they follow you on Instagram (either on their own smartphones or from a desktop), they can see every picture that you upload. I love using Instagram because I am able to go back and reminisce about the adventures that I took. It’s the best way to not only stay in touch with those whom you can’t be around but to capture wonderful moments.
