Time together is precious, especially when you can get the whole family together. From infants to grandparents, there’s no doubt that traveling with a group of all ages can get a little stressful, but you want to make the most of your time together. Since the large age gap can cause some differences in interests, it’s always a good idea to plan your trip with activities that the whole group can enjoy. Take a look at some great travel ideas to take into consideration for your next trip with all ages.

Traveling

Keeping everyone happy starts with the journey. Whether you’re with teens or senior citizens, it’s important to plan on ways to keep everyone occupied on long car rides. For children, try bringing some travel friendly toys, coloring books and crayons and interact with age-appropriate games. For teens and young adults, iPads, tablets, music, movies and magazines should do the trick – but also encourage them to play along. For the adults, ask ahead of time if they enjoy magazines, books, or word puzzles so you can stock the car ahead of time.

Attractions

So now that you’ve gotten through the traveling part, what kinds of activities can you do that everyone will enjoy? You’ll have some sulky teens if you cater to the youngest in the group, and infants can limit choices in louder activities like concerts. Try going to a zoo, an aquarium, a beach or even a local sports game for whatever is in season. Everyone loves to root for the home team! Just make sure to check in with all ages to see when a rest is needed if you’re doing a lot of walking, and don’t be afraid to let the older teens explore a little on their own at a faster pace.

Dining

A multi-generational vacation may not be the time to impress with trying expensive foodie finds. While you may have some adventuresome eaters, you may want to stick to familiar chains that can accommodate large parties and offers a menu for all ages with a variety of menu items. To try the local fare, check if there is a farmers market or event happening where you could get some great local food from booths and food trucks where everyone can find something they like.

Vehicle

When it comes to one of the most important aspect of the trip, the vehicle to transport everyone, be sure to pick a vehicle that is spacious, safe, and excellent on gas mileage. We recommend the 2015 Toyota Sienna, the 2015 Honda Odyssey, or the 2015 Kia Sedona, all which have rearview cameras, comfortable third-row seats, and the newest safety features.
