August 25
About the Event
There are 9 days this year that you can get into any of our 401 national parks, but only one falls during the summer. August 25 is the National Park Service’s 98th birthday, and it’s a perfect chance to visit one of Florida’s 11 national parks. You can experience the pristine white-sand beaches of the Panhandle and see Naval air stations and forts at the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Or, visit the subtropical wonders of the Everglades, home to 366 species or birds and over a dozen endangered species of animals. Take a boat to snorkel in the Biscayne National Park, a part of the third largest coral reef in the world. There’s a lot of Florida out there to explore, and Fee-Free National Park Day is a great reason to go!
