The fearless host of Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern, explores the world to find culturally diverse foods that some of us wouldn’t eat even if you paid us. From animal brains to insects, there’s not much that Andrew won’t consume.  The best part of the show is watching his reaction to the strange foods from around the world.

Here in America, we don’t typically find the foods we eat to be odd or weird in any way. Foods like hamburgers and hotdogs are a normal American meal that are consumed and loved by most people. However, what if there are some foods here in our home country that we’d cringe the even think about eating? Believe it or not, there are more of these kinds of concoctions out there than you may think.

Take a look at some of the Weirdest Foods in America. Have you eaten any of these meals? Tell us about it!

Reindeer Hot Dogs

Ever thought about putting Rudolph meat in a bun? In Alaska, you can! This Anchorage favorite is made with traditional Alaskan caribou and doesn’t taste like your average hot dog.

Chitlins

Not interested in eating reindeer? No problem! Head down South and grab yourself some Chitlins. Doesn’t sound too crazy, right? If you’re okay with eating chitterlins, aka, the small intestines of a pig, than you’re in for a treat! Chitlins is a traditional soul food that is deep fried before serving.

Cuy (Guinea Pig)

In America, we’re used eating pig meat. I don’t know about you, but there’s not much I love more than a good piece of bacon. So nothing too weird about that, right? How about we crank it up a notch and try some Cuy?  If you’re not familiar with this food, it is also known as guinea pig. Believe it or not, it’s a South American delicacy and you can find Cuy in New York City.

Brain Sandwiches

If you’re looking for brain food, fish is usually the first thing that comes to mind, right? Well, in Indiana, you can eat real brain as food. Deep in Indiana is where you can deep fry pig brains and eat it! If that’s not bizarre, we aren’t sure what is.

Frog Legs

Frog legs are THAT bizarre, until you see them on the plate before they are consumed. Although they do taste somewhat like chicken wings, frog legs has small bones and shouldn’t be eaten like a chicken wing.
