The name of this ski town might be a bit misleading, as it really shines the brightest during the winter months. Tubing, ice skating, snowshoeing, skiing, and ‘boarding … it’s all here! When you’re sufficiently frigid, you can also warm up with a meal at a cozy eatery in the town center before catching a flick at the Opera House, which has been a fixture in Sun Valley since 1937.
Aspen, CO
For a classic winter getaway, Aspen’s definitely the place to be. Experience the famed Maroon Bells for yourself, and find out why they’re the most-photographed mountains in the country. For a view from above, try an aerial tour. There are plenty of ways to wind down after a day on the slopes, too; treat yourself at one of the full-service spas, visit an art gallery, or take in a performance from the nationally-renowned Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.
