Visit Yosemite National Park for events throughout 2014 to learn about the history of the region and how it came to be what it is today.
About the Festival
In 1964, President Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant Act, protecting the lands and creating not only the first California State Park but also the first protected lands for all time. All year long, Yosemite and the surrounding areas will be holding events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of this monumental event. Throughout the summer, on Thursdays you can catch a documentary by Ken Burns called A Gathering of Spirit about the Grant Act and its impact. There are also art exhibits and artifacts to show how the first people to visit Yosemite experienced it. For the full event calendar and times for the summer, visit the National Park Service website.
