If you live somewhere warm and complain about the heat, you’ll sometimes get the response, “it’s hot everywhere in the summer!” This, however, is not always the case. If you’re looking to escape the heat, try some of these comfortably chilly summer cities.
San Francisco
Topping the list of coldest cities is the City by the Bay, whose summer temperatures average in the low 60’s and is coupled with a refreshing cool wind. With an average low in the 50’s, you’ll want to bring your sweatshirt to brave the breezy summer nights on the pier.
Milwaukee
Grab your lawn chair to hang out in this cool city. Almost every night through the summer, Milwaukee features live music in its various parks across the city. Nighttime temperatures drop to the 60’s, so you’ll be comfortably cool while you enjoy jazz, orchestra, Latin, Irish, pop, and more.
Rochester
With average summer temperatures staying below 70, Rochester is the perfect spot to enjoy the outdoors. Proud of its heritage as “The Flower City,” Rochester offers plenty of outdoor spaces to get out and smell the roses…and tulips, lilacs, magnolias, pansies, and so many more.
Providence
Boasting an average summer temperature of 71, you won’t want to miss a second of Providence’s beautiful outdoor space. Hop on a gondola to explore the three rivers of the city before finding a spot to watch the incredible WaterFire art installation, featuring the lighting of almost 100 bonfires on the waterways.
Denver
The Mile High City makes the most of its sunny yet cool weather with its Sensational Summer events. Featuring a variety of festivals, free events, art installations, fitness activities and concerts, there’s something great to do every day of the week in this cool city, whose nights can reach the 50’s.
